the Dr. Martens case

Guitar geek out time.

I haven't even opened the recording laptop since my lesson but that's ok. I tried to put in at least a few minutes of guitar practice and it's great to have the guitar on a stand where it is easy to grab, wherever I may be. Since putting the Washburn back downstairs and leaving the Epiphone on the stand upstairs, I find that it is easy to sneak in a few minutes of practice whenever I feel like it. I ordered another tuner and capo so that I have all the supplies wherever I may be. The capo has been here for a few days now and the tuner arrived yesterday.

D'Addario's rechargeable Eclipse tuner is pretty cool. I tried it last night. Charged it up with the included usb cable and then tinkered with it. So far, I'm loving it. The capo was some cheap thing that's so far been good. It was a two pack and one of them had a smell but I think it should dissipate if I leave it out of the plastic bag and box for a few days. It also came with some picks that are the thinnest I've seen. I haven't used them though.

Another thing that arrived is the guitar case that I ordered. It's a hard case, meant for a classic guitar so I am a little worried that the Epiphone isn't going to fit in it. I just miss having a proper case and I thought maybe I should have one when bringing my guitar with me to and from lessons. But as I had feared, it's too small for the dreadnoughts. I figured, at the sale price, if it didn't fit the Epiphone, it may work on the Yamaha. So that happened. Now the Yamaha has a case. That works out well since that was the only one that didn't come with a gig bag, and now I am wondering if that is the guitar I should bring to my lesson. The case makes me smile when I look at it. With the yellow stitching on black, it's like the Dr. Martens case hahaha.

I got a call from Guitar Center about moving the lesson schedule again so it's back to Saturdays now. I suppose that's not a bad thing. I should come to my lesson prepared with all the questions and maybe focus on at least one piece whenever I'm there. There was the little annoyance about charging a registration fee, supposedly one time but as I have two different lessons scheduled, they charged me registration for each of them. The lessons coordinator said they would refund but when I followed up on the refund, I was told that the director denied it. I was flabbergasted. It never came up that this could happen so I asked the coordinator to ask again. Otherwise, to let me know who I need to reach out to, in order to escalate the matter. Thankfully, I did get the refund so we're not gonna talk about that again. Actually, the teacher told me that since I signed up for lessons during a lessons showcase event, he thought that the registration fee was waived and this only made me more adamant about getting the refund. My husband offered, if after the second effort was made and no refund was granted, we could also open a case with the credit card. I'm so glad we don't have to do any of that.
