poinsettias

I've learned that Costco is actually a great place to get poinsettias. Not just a good value but they're usually more lush and rounded than ones you might get at other places. I would have thought Home Depot or Lowe's might be a great choice. Costco is convenient though, and the last time I went, they had them. I just didn't buy them because there was a long line at the checkout and I didn't really have the time. That was probably good though because after leaving Costco, I actually looked up how to care for poinsettias and I didn't realize that they had more needs that I simply didn't know about.

For one, they don't like direct sun. You can't put them in a spot where there may be sun for long periods and the front porch gets lots of sun in the morning. Granted, it hasn't been sunny lately so that isn't my biggest problem. They apparently also don't like the cold. So if there's a bit winter in the works, I have to take the poinsettia into the house. You can't even put them by the window because if they touch the window, well it's like Rouge just touched my poinsettia. Life force drained, powers transferred, and my poor poinsettia will suffer. Maybe. I don't know. I'm no green thumb. I'm the exact opposite of that and I just don't want to be responsible for sad, wilting poinsettias that won't make it past Thanksgiving, much less Christmas.

I've come up with a new plan. Faux-settias. Faux but life-like and large, that's what I'm hoping for. While I'm at it, maybe a very large new wreath. Guess, we will have to see what Target has to offer.
