ready for karaoke

I was going to wait for a sale, or Christmas, or Black Friday, maybe even just Halloween but there was no point. A Shure SM58 is literally never going to go on sale. It's probably the gold standard in vocal microphones for live performances and it has been for the last 5 decades? Not that I have a shortage of microphones at the moment. I have two perfectly functional ones but I just wanted to see the difference if I went dynamic. Every booth I worked in used an Electro-Voice RE20 and I would have bought one just to stare at it and reminisce the good old days but I didn't exactly have $500 burning a hole in my pocket. For approximately half that, I managed to get a microphone that is guaranteed to serve me for the rest of my life, the mic stand on my wish list, and 2 XLR cables. One goes into the interface, and the other, with the 1/4" jack, is for use with my keyboard. (Found the song book!) The initial test for karaoke night went very, very well. I also now have a PA system in my living room, for calling everyone to dinner. I'm sure even the neighbors will hear. <cue laughter> As a bonus, we managed to get a 2TB internal hard drive for the laptop. I think recording is going full tilt next week.

Playlist Recommendation: Levitating, Dua Lipa
